Philippines Palarong Pambansa 2025 Opening Ceremony

The 65th Palarong Pambansa is currently underway in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, showcasing the athletic prowess of over 15,000 student-athletes from across the Philippines. The event, which began on May 24 and runs until May 30, 2025, was officially opened by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at the Ferdinand E. Marcos Memorial Stadium. A notable feature of this year's opening ceremony was the unveiling of a solar-powered "Palaro Light Beam," symbolizing Ilocos Norte's commitment to renewable energy .


🏅 Medal Standings (as of May 29, 2025)

The National Capital Region (NCR) leads the medal tally with 73 golds, 51 silvers, and 27 bronzes. Calabarzon (Region IV-A) follows with 30 golds, 44 silvers, and 40 bronzes, while Western Visayas (Region VI) holds third place with 24 golds, 33 silvers, and 27 bronzes .

🌟 Notable Performances

  • Central Visayas: Despite slipping to eighth place, the region has seen standout performances. Archer Naina Dominique Tagle from Dumaguete City secured four gold medals in the secondary girls’ archery events, breaking her own records in the 30-meter and 1,440 Round events. Additionally, swimmer Kacie Gabrielle Tionko contributed a gold in the 1,500-meter freestyle .
