Second Largest Diamond Ever Found

A 2,492-carat diamond considered to be the world's second largest diamond that has been discovered up to date was found in Botswana using an X-ray technology. The diamond was discovered at a mine owned by Canadian Firm "Lucara Diamond".

The first world's largest diamond having a 3,106 carat was found more than a century ago in South Africa in 1905. While recently a new one was excavated at the Karowe Diamond Mine in Northeastern Botswana using an X-ray technology last August 22, 2024. The CEO of the said firm did not provide any details as to the price of the high quality stone.

For most of us who don't know yet, Botswana is one of the world's largest producer of diamonds which constitute its main source of income, representing 30% of GDP and 80% of its exports.
