Santiago German, a 22-year-old chess prodigy from the Philippines, achieved a remarkable victory at the Think & Plan June 2024 – Classical Standard tournament in Sharjah, UAE. Competing against 195 participants, German secured first place with an undefeated score of 6.5/7, showcasing strategic brilliance and determination. His win not only boosts his standing in the International Chess Federation (FIDE) rankings but also sets the stage for upcoming competitions in the UAE and Europe. German's next challenges include the 17th Poti International Chess Festival in Georgia and defending his title at the Asian Amateur Championship in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, later this year.
