Retired Doctor's Life-Saving Act

A retired doctor, who saved a woman's life 25 years ago, received heartwarming care from her in his later years, showcasing the long-lasting impact of kindness and gratitude.

A doctor who formed a friendship with a woman whose life he helped to save 25 years ago while volunteering abroad, has been reunited with her after she traveled across the world to help him recover from a major operation.

Dr Keith Thomson, 71, from Ascot, Berkshire, was volunteering with a medical charity in Freetown, Sierra Leone, in March 1993, when he first met Catherine Conteh.

At 18-years-old, she was in a maternity ward saying goodbye to loved ones, unable to afford the £70 needed for a lifesaving Caesarean.
