Math Enthusiast Triumphs at the World Debating Championship: Ateneo A's David Africa and Toby Leung

ℱℴ𝓇 𝓉𝒽ℯ 𝒻𝒾𝓇𝓈𝓉 𝓉𝒾𝓂ℯ, 𝓉𝒽ℯ 𝒫𝒽𝒾𝓁𝒾𝓅𝓅𝒾𝓃ℯ𝓈 ℯ𝓂ℯ𝓇ℊℯ𝒹 𝒶𝓈 "𝒞𝒽𝒶𝓂𝓅𝒾ℴ𝓃" 𝒾𝓃 𝓉𝒽ℯ 𝓇ℯ𝒸ℯ𝓃𝓉𝓁𝓎 𝒸ℴ𝓃𝒸𝓁𝓊𝒹ℯ𝒹 𝒲ℴ𝓇𝓁𝒹 𝒰𝓃𝒾𝓋ℯ𝓇𝓈𝒾𝓉𝒾ℯ𝓈 𝒟ℯ𝒷𝒶𝓉𝒾𝓃ℊ 𝒞𝒽𝒶𝓂𝓅𝒾ℴ𝓃𝓈𝒽𝒾𝓅 2023 𝒽ℯ𝓁𝒹 𝒾𝓃 ℳ𝒶𝒹𝓇𝒾𝒹.

The 43rd World Universities Debating Championship held in Madrid in January 3, 2023(GMT+1) has just ended and a new champion has emerged: Ateneo A's represented by David Africa and Toby Leung. This victory marks a historic moment, as it is the first time a team from the Philippines or Southeast Asia has claimed the title at this prestigious event.

The team triumphed over strong competition, including teams from renowned institutions such as Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, National University of Singapore, and London School of Economics.

Toby’s was also awarded as "2nd Best Speaker" and it is the highest ranking a Filipino has ever received and David as the 8th Best Speaker of the World.

What's even more remarkable is that both David and Toby are from the Mathematics field of study, proving that their expertise goes beyond just numbers and equations. They have demonstrated exceptional skills in communication and argumentation, earning the recognition and admiration of the international community.

The win of these two Math enthusiasts serves as an inspiration for students who are pursuing a degree in Mathematics or any STEM-related field.
