June 7: National Chocolate Ice Cream Day!
Cool thing to know🍨but first ,what is an Ice Cream?
Ice cream is a sweetened frozen food typically eaten as a snack or dessert. It may be made from milk or cream and is flavoured with a sweetener, either sugar or an alternative, and a spice, such as cocoa or vanilla, or with fruit such as strawberries or peaches.(Wikipedia)
But nowadays we have a variety of flavors to choose from and it comes with vibrant colors too. You may add sprinkles on top of it to have an amazing treat.
But do you know why I chose to start my day with an Ice Cream topic? It is because today is the 7th of June. In America, June 7 is declared as their National Chocolate Ice Cream Day. And here's why.
One day, former President Reagan decided he would decree a day for ice cream to commemorate the treat that more than 90 percent of the population in the United States enjoy. He did so in 1984.
In the proclamation, President Reagan noted that “over eight hundred and eighty-seven million gallons of ice cream were consumed in the United States in 1983” and that the ice cream industry contributes “substantially to the economic well-being of the Nation's dairy industry.” Those are great things to celebrate! So don't be surprised why he glorifies Dairy Manufacturers.
Vanilla is considered to be the most popular flavor of ice cream, but ever since the Italians frozen hot chocolate in 1692, chocolate has been a close contender.
To encourage huge sales on this delightful chocolate flavor thus a celebration for a National Chocolate Ice Cream Day was born.
