Gilas Pilipinas Shines in FIBA Olympic Qualifiers, Earning Praise from President Marcos

MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. praised Gilas Pilipinas for their valiant effort in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT) in Latvia. Ranked 37th in the world, Gilas made a strong run to the semifinals but fell to Brazil 60-71. Despite the loss, Marcos commended the team for making Filipinos proud and creating history.

Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez also lauded the team, highlighting their historic victory over world No. 6 Latvia and emphasizing their resilience and capability. He urged continued support for the athletes, who embody the spirit of Filipino resilience and excellence.
