Coachella 2026: Where the World Watches—and Every Moment Matters

The desert lit up once again as the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival returned in 2026; bigger, louder, and more globally watched than ever. Held in Indio, Coachella is no longer just a music festival; it’s a cultural benchmark. For artists, being part of it means visibility on a world stage, viral moments in real time, and a stamp of relevance that echoes far beyond the weekend.

But this year, Coachella wasn’t just about the headliners, it was about the moments in between.

A Different Kind of Presence: Justin Bieber

One of the most talked-about appearances came from Justin Bieber, not because he headlined, but because he didn’t. Instead of a full performance, Bieber showed up in a more intimate, low-key way while playing his own songs through YouTube and singing along with fans. It wasn’t the spectacle Coachella is known for, but it became a moment nonetheless.

In a space defined by grand stages and high-energy sets, Bieber’s quiet presence stood out. It reflected where he is now while strongly fighting with health challenges like Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, yet still finding ways to connect with his audience. And at Coachella, connection is everything.

In case you are wondering why he sang like a Karaoke theme

Justin Bieber doesn’t fully own all of the master recordings of his earlier albums. Like many artists who started young, his music was released under major labels (like Island Records), which typically retain ownership of the masters.

What he did do:

  • In 2023, Bieber sold the rights to his music catalog (including publishing and some master rights) to Hipgnosis Songs Capital

  • That deal reportedly covered a huge portion of his work up to that point

What that means:

  • He may not control how all his songs are used (like licensing, ads, etc.)

  • But he still earns from them and remains the artist behind them

  • Ownership depends on the specific contract per album/song

In my perspective, Justin Bieber’s decision to step back from certain parts of his music business as part of a broader shift in priorities where career scale gives way to personal grounding. It’s possible that, at a certain point in his life, he began to value stability, privacy, and the idea of building a family with Hailey Bieber more than managing the complexities of owning and controlling a vast music catalog. He became a father a year after he sold his music rights.

While there is no official confirmation that this was the reason behind selling his music rights, the timing and his gradual retreat from nonstop industry demands suggest a man choosing a quieter kind of success, one that isn’t measured by ownership or output, but by presence, health, and family life.

So when you see him casually playing his songs (like on YouTube at a festival), it’s not necessarily about ownership it’s more about his current situation: health, comfort level, and how he wants to engage with fans right now.

BINI Breaks Through: A Proud Filipino Moment

While global superstars dominated the lineup, one group made history in a way that resonated deeply especially for Filipino fans.

BINI took the Coachella stage and delivered a performance that marked a breakthrough not just for them, but for P-pop as a whole. Their presence symbolized how far Filipino artists have come which is stepping into one of the biggest music platforms in the world and owning it.

From synchronized choreography to confident vocals, BINI didn’t just perform but they also elevated the talent of Filipinos most especially in the music industry. And for many watching from the Philippines and beyond, it was more than a set, it was a statement.

What it means for an artist to be invited at Coachella?

For a music artist, being invited to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is more than just a gig, it’s a major career milestone.

Held in Indio, Coachella is one of the most influential stages in the world, where music, culture, fashion, and media all collide in real time. It is global exposure. Performing at Coachella puts an artist in front of millions of live stream viewers via platforms like YouTube; performed with international audiences in-person and online; being covered by media outlets, influencers, and industry executives and all sorts of thing.

It’s not just a crowd, it’s the world watching.
