Paraliparis Selti
In the depths of the Atacama Trench some 6000 to 7000 meters deep beneath the Pacific Ocean, researchers discovered this unfamiliar snail fish in 2022.
Scientist named the new species Paraliparis selti with "Paraliparis" being its genus and the species name, "selti" meaning blue in the Kunza language (an extinct language in northern Chile and Peru). Having notable for its large eyes and unique color. The new species has evolved from the cold-adapted species of the Southern Ocean. Its discovery opens new questions related to the connection between cold temperature and high pressure adaptation. It gives insights into how and when life went into the deep waters.
Paruroctonus Soda
~Is a species of scorpion in the genus "Paruroctonus. It lives in the deserts of Southern California where it is found in dry lake beds discovered by two Californian teenagers Harper Forbes and Prakrit Jain when they were scrolling the collaborative science platform iNaturalist and something caught their eye, a mysterious scorpion in the Mojave desert.
The two teens visited the sites of the iNaturalist observations—California’s Soda Lake and named the two new scorpion species as "Paruroctonus Soda" & "Paruroctonus Conclusus", the two new species of Playa Scorpions under dry lake sea bed of Central and Southern California.
